Ocean Beach, Whangarei
Annual, usually mid-late February

48 people, 6 teams, 2 days, 1 field. Not one single woman will be turned away (although they don't expect to turn away any boys either). One field, so everyone gets lots of watching and hanging in the sun. Normally they play four games each Saturday starting around 10 and then two games on Sunday (starting late), plus a final for the superstars.

Accommodation at the Surf Life Saving Club is included in your fee. But mostly people bring a tent and pitch in the camping ground 100 metres from the beach. Expect a party too. Normally they have a BBQ at surf HQ on Saturday night and a few welcome drinks on the Friday night.

Whangarei is about two and a half hours north of Auckland; Ocean Beach ios out to the eastern heads from Whangarei. The climate is warm this far north, and there are lots of top beaches. Ocean Beach and surrounds has great fishing and surfing.
